Episode 7: Roger Shannon on the start to the Fredericton Red Wings Season

Brad Janes and Bill Gibson take the studio on the road to the Grant Harvey Centre to talk life and the Fredericton Red Wings with Roger Shannon.  Roger talks about the teams performance in the last game, the go forward outlook for the team and the gamble that comes with every draft.  The group chats about the hockey landscape in the city, Roger's lifetime in hockey and although it's still October....Santa Claus.  Brad asks Roger to write his own scouting report! 

Episode 6: Previewing the 2023-24 STU Tommies basketball teams

Late Scratches takes the gear mobile for a 2 part episode previewing STU Tommies Women's and Men's basketball teams in advance of the Ken Gould Tournament this week.  In part 1, co-hosts Brad Janes and Bill Gibson are joined by veterans women's team coach Fred Connors and starting guard Kylee Roi.   In part 2, starting at the 34:00 minute mark, men's coach John Hickey and CCAA All-Canadian discuss the men's program and the high expectations for the season.   This was recorded in the STU basketball office with the gear atop a Gatorade cooler - we ask forgiveness if we sound far away from the microphones at times.   

Episode 5: Recapping a busy week in local sports with Bill Hunt

When schedules didn't work out with the planned hockey guest, co-hosts Brad Janes and Bill Gibson are joined by Bill Hunt to discuss the last week in local sports.  Brad talks about his visit to Fenway Park and a wildly high scoring Fredericton Red Wings game.  Gibby recaps his weekend at the Milner Invitation, a stop into the UNB Helen Campbell tournament and updates the NB Senior Baseball finals happening at Royals Field.  The group discusses the STU Athletic Director role and what might be key components of the job for the incoming hire. 

Episode 4: Basketball NB Executive Director Tyler Slipp

BNB Executive Director Tyler Slip joins Brad Janes and Bill Gibson to talk about the state of minor basketball in New Brunswick including coaching development, elite programs, funding participation of athletes who can't afford it, officiating, and over excited parents.  Tyler becomes the first victim, err, guest subject the rapid fire question segment. 

Episode 3: Katie Butts and the Royals Field Rant

Fredericton Freeze and UNB Reds women's basketball stand-out Katie Butts joins co-hosts Brad Janes and Bill Gibson. Katie talks about the recruiting process, life as a student athlete, the coaching change at UNB, life in New Brunswick, the importance of giving back, officiating and makes a bold statement on where she expects UNB to sit in the standings this year.  After mentioning it for two episodes, Bill finally gets his Royals Field rant in.  

Episode 2: The Untold Stories: The state of sports media in the local area

Co-hosts Brad Janes and Bill Gibson are joined by retired sports reporter and Atlantic Journalism Hall of Fame member Bill Hunt to talk about the state of sports story telling in the Fredericton region and talk about some of the favorite stories they have told. Bill G and Brad recap the last week including The Dwight Dickinson golf tournament and another unlikely prize winning golf shot.
